Mercedes‑Benz Places Tower 1 Begins Vertical Construction in Brickell

29 de abril de 2025

Construction has officially gone vertical at Mercedes-Benz Places in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, marking a significant milestone for the ambitious mixed-use development. Located at 1 Southside Park, the project is being developed by JDS Development Group in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz and features architecture by SHoP Architects, with ODP Architecture & Design serving as the architect of record.

The first of two interconnected towers is now rising above ground, with formwork and rebar outlining the base of what will become a 64-story structure reaching approximately 780 feet. A second 64-story tower, planned at a slightly shorter height of around 760 feet, will eventually follow.

Recent site photos show a dense framework of vertical rebar and steel reinforcement beginning to shape the tower’s podium, marking the initial stages of superstructure development. Construction is currently focused on the core and structural walls, signaling that the project has moved past groundwork and into its next construction phase.

Progress, while initially slower than anticipated, is expected to accelerate now that vertical work is underway. The adjacent site for Tower 2 remains cleared and compacted, awaiting future construction. A historic schoolhouse on-site has been preserved with a protective enclosure.

The 2.5 million-square-foot development will eventually include 791 condominium units ranging from studios to three bedrooms, along with 200 hotel rooms, office space, wellness facilities, retail space, and a new 32,000-square-foot City of Miami Fire Station No. 4. Completion is expected by 2027.
